Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

Everyone ages, and with age comes wrinkles and an aged appearance. Dr. Daniel Golshani, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, has an answer for this. He first displays examples of, “These visible signs of facial aging, including a loss of skin elasticity and firmness, sagging tissues, wrinkles, and sun-damage, can strongly influence how we feel about ourselves and how others see us.” Then he explains that these individuals should seek a face lift from a plastic surgeon. He says, “Individuals who are energetic and excited about life can appear tired or sad due to the loss of youthful contours in their brow, eyelids, mid-face, jaw line, and neck.”

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

A lot of women that receive breast augmentation surgery with silicone implants will do so without even really thinking about what they have just had put inside of them. Which may bring them to the question, “What exactly is a silicone gel-filled implant?” Dr. Lyle Weeks, an El Paso plastic surgeon, answers this with, “A silicone gel-filled breast implant is an implant shell made of silicone elastomer (rubber) filled with silicone gel as opposed to being filled with saline. Saline implants also have a silicone elastomer shell.” Some women will find this out before their surgery, and that is the best way to go about it.

According to Dr. Francis Palmer, a Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon, “Where the incision is placed is a consideration as it does have an effect on the visibility of the scar, possible damage to the milk ducts of the breasts and the lymphatic drainage of the breasts.” The three most common breast augmentation incision sites are transaxillary, inframammary, and periareolar. Transaxillary is through an incision placed in a woman’s armpits. Inframammary is when a breast implant is inserted through an incision in the breast fold, underneath the breast. The last incision type, periareolar, is when a breast implant is placed through an incision located around a woman’s nipple.

Eyelid Surgery Can Be Performed As A Revisional Procedure

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Occasionally, an eyelid lift may not go as planned. According to Dr. Francis Palmer, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, eyelid surgery can also be done as a revision or secondary procedure to remove skin and fatty tissue. He discusses that this procedure may be performed as a result of fat and skin that were missed in the initial blepharoplasty procedure. Also, it may be performed after a few years where aging has occurred and the tissues have again fallen. He also explains that residual fat is common in the inside portion of the upper eyelid and outer portion of the lower eyelid.
