Avoiding Pregnancy After A Tummy Tuck Keeps The Results Permanent

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Any person thinking about receiving a tummy tuck should be considering this question, “Is it possible to have children after a tummy tuck?” While looking around online I found the answer to that question on the website of a Michigan plastic surgeon. It says, “Yes, it is possible to become pregnant and have full-term babies after a tummy tuck. However, pregnancy will re-create many deformities treated by the tummy tuck procedure.”

Gastric Banding May Be The Difference Between Life And Death For Some Individuals

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

“Obesity becomes “morbid” when it reaches the point of significantly increasing the risk of one or more obesity-related health conditions or serious diseases (also known as co-morbidities) that can result either in significant physical disability or even death.” After reading this on the website of a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon I realized that gastric band procedures may be the difference between life and death for some people.

Smart Lipo Uses A Laser To Disolve Fatty Tissue

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Many people have heard of the medical procedure known as liposuction, but rarely do they realize how the procedure is performed. I was once uninformed as well until I found the website of a Lansing plastic surgeon. It says, “A very new technique has been recently developed called “The Smart-Lipo” technique, which uses a laser to dissolve fatty tissue before the suction is done.”

Weight Training Must Be Avoided For Several Days After A Thigh Lift

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

“Dr. Gordon will determine when normal activities can be resumed; however, weight training and aerobic exercise must be avoided for several days.” After reading this on a website of a Las Vegas plastic surgeon, my heart sunk. I have been working out every other day for a while now which is why I need a thigh lift in the first place. It will hurt to not be able to get any exercising in for a few days, but I’m sure it will be worth it.

Many Men Will Opt Out Of Certain Physical Activities Due To Gynecomastia

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

I read this on an Orange County plastic surgeon’s website, “Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair your self confidence. Some men may even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy simply to hide their condition.” This describes me completely. I rarely go to the gym or play sports because of this. I have always been embarrassed by my female like breasts. A male breast reduction would save my self-esteem from further downfall.

A Body Lift Makes You Look Thinner And Younger

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

I was looking around online for information on liposuction when I stumbled upon something interesting on a Utah plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Dr. Lockwood, one of the promoters of true body lifting, points out that liposuction makes the patient look thinner, whereas a body lift tightens the skin and makes an individual look younger.” Now I look for information on lower body lift surgery.

Following A Breast Reduction You Will Experience Pain For Several Days

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

I’m going to be receiving a breast reduction in the next few months and I had been very worried about what to expect after surgery. I went online to find out as much post-operative care facts about breast reduction as possible. I ended up finding a handful on a Chicago plastic surgeon’s website. “Following surgery, you will experience pain for several days, but it can be controlled with medication. Within a week, the surgical dressing will be replaced with a soft bra, to be worn for several weeks. Swelling and skin discoloration will partially subside in a week or two and stitches will be removed at about that time. You can return to nonphysical work in approximately one week and gradually resume fitness and other physical activities after three to four weeks.”

Labia Minora Reduction Can Make You More Comfortable In All Intimate Situations

Friday, June 19th, 2009

This is embarrassing, but I feel my labia minora is much larger than a normal woman’s labia minora. I thought there was absolutely no way to fix it, but after some research, I found a way. On a Chicago plastic surgeon’s website it describes a surgery known as Labia Minora Reduction and says, “Various techniques are available for treating prominent labia minora. The standard approach utilized by many gynecologists and plastic surgeons is a simple removal of leading edge of the labia, thereby shortening and reducing it. The edge is then repaired. This is the least complicated technique and is easily completed in the office.”

A Tummy Tuck Incision Is Hidden Below The Panty-Line

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I have heard of a tummy tuck before, but I am not well informed. I had no idea where the surgery was performed or how they performed it before I found this San Mateo plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “A horizontal incision is made in the area between the pubic area and navel, hidden below the panty-line. Where correction is isolated to the area below the navel, a mini tummy tuck with a shorter incision may be recommended.”

Many Arm Lift Patients Lost Weight Through Bariatric Surgery

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

I have recently lost over 150 pounds through Bariatric Surgery and I now have a lot of loose, hanging skin. I want to know if I am a typical candidate for an arm lift or if I will just be declined. I found a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon’s website with some good news. It says, “The majority of candidates for brachioplasty are those have lost massive weight following Bariatric Surgery, also known as ’stomach stapling’ or ‘lap banding.’”

There Are Many Body Contouring Procedures Available

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

I have been wondering what a couple of body contouring plastic surgery procedures are so I did some searching online and found a Long Beach plastic surgeon’s website. His site lists a few of them including tummy tuck, liposuction, and arm lift. Now that I know a few of them I can decide which procedures are best for me.

Smart Lipo Is Used For Smaller Amounts Of Fat

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I recently heard of a type of liposuction known as smart lipo. I was very curious to find out the difference as I am going to be receiving liposuction in a few months. I did some searching online and found a Tulsa plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Conventional liposuction is meant to remove greater amounts of fat.” also “Smart Lipo is ideal for the neck, jawline, arms, breasts, ‘bra fat,’ abdomen, “love handles”, “saddle bags”, inner and outer thighs and knees.”

An Ideal Candidate For A Tummy Tuck Is Not Overweight

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

I have been wondering if I’m an ideal candidate for a tummy tuck. I am in fairly good shape, but I have a tummy that will not go away no matter how hard I try. I did some online searching and found a Miami plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Abdominoplasty is not, however, a substitute for weight reduction, and it is not meant as a treatment for obesity. The ideal candidate for abdominoplasty has relatively normal weight with weak abdominal muscles and excess skin and fat of the lower abdomen.”

Brachioplasty Is Not A Surgical Treatment For Being Overweight

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I have a friend who thinks her only way to make herself appear “in shape” is by receiving an arm lift. I told her that she needs to lose a lot of weight to be considered for that surgery, just like any other plastic surgery procedure. She continually disagrees with me saying that her arms are the only problem. I did some research to see which one of us was correct and found a Fresno plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Brachioplasty is not a surgical treatment for being overweight. Obese individuals who intend to lose weight should postpone all forms of body-contouring surgery until they have reached a stable weight.”

Breast Augmentation Enhances The Body Contour Of Women

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

I have been thinking about receiving a breast augmentation for a while, but I’ve never really known who the ideal candidate is. I did some online searching and found a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Breast augmentation, or breast enlargement, is offered in our Los Angeles office and enhances the body contour of a woman who is unhappy with her small breast size.”

Liposuction Helps Sculpt The Body

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

I have been trying to lose 10 more pounds for over 4 months and I’m finally considering liposuction. I did some research online and found a Newport Beach plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Liposuction can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Through a small skin incision, a suction tube, or cannula, is inserted into various fat pockets.”

Brachioplasty Removes “Bat-Wings”

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

An arm lift or brachioplasty is the surgical correction of excess skin to the arms. Over time, with pregnancy, weight loss or even during normal development, excess skin to the upper arms (bat-wings) can develop compelling women to seek correction.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Has Little Risk

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Thousands of abdominoplasties are performed successfully each year. When done by a qualified plastic surgeon who is trained in body contouring, the results are generally quite positive. Nevertheless, there are always risks associated with surgery and specific complications associated with this procedure.

Body Contouring can Return a Part of You That Has Faded

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Liposuction is one of the most frequently performed procedures. Localized fat pockets, resistant to exercise and diet, can be eliminated. The areas of the body of such accumulated fat pockets often include the hips, thighs, abdomen, neck , arms, and breasts. The best candidates are near normal weight people with elastic skin who desire an improved contour change. This procedure is usually performed under general or local anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The incisions are placed in specific areas to provide the optimal contouring and aesthetic result. A fitted compression garment will be worn for about 3 to 4 weeks. Activity may be resumed in about 3 weeks and the final results will be apparent in about 3 months.

Who Does Gynecomastia Affect?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Gynecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for “women-like breasts.” Though this oddly named condition is rarely talked about, it’s actually quite common. Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men. It may affect only one breast or both.

Post Arm Lift Care

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

After arm lift surgery or upper arm liposuction you will be required to wear a compressive garment which is much like a very tight shirt. The length of time for which the garment is worn varies with surgeon preference and extent of surgery, and averages 2 to 4 weeks. You may return to work within 2 to 3 days, again depending on the extent of your surgery.

There Are Always Some Risks Associated With Body Contouring Surgery

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Thousands of body contouring surgeries are performed successfully each year. When done by a qualified plastic surgeon who is trained in body contouring, the results are generally quite positive. Nevertheless, there are always risks associated with surgery and specific complications associated with this procedure.

Perform Other Plastic Surgery Procedrues at the Same Time as a Tummy Tuck

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Patients often have multiple procedures at the same time. The most common include breast augmentation, breast lifts, tummy tuck, and/or liposuction. This saves both time and money since costs are often reduced when multiple procedures are combined. Additional procedures would also include facial cosmetic surgery or those related to weight loss such as thigh or buttock lifts.

Liposuction is Able to Help Overweight Patients in Many Ways

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Although all plastic surgeons recommend that you be at your ideal weight, overweight patients who are unable to reach their goals can greatly benefit as well. Many have been inspired to continue to lose weight after treatment. With liposculpture, saddlebags can disappear, hips and legs become thinner, stomachs flatten and double chins can literally melt away.

Abdominoplasty Provides a Sleeker, Stronger Abdominal Wall

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

The tummy tuck procedure tightens the muscles to provide a sleeker, stronger abdominal wall and to make the waist smaller. Loose, lax skin often compromised by stretch marks, is removed. You will be up in a day or two after surgery, but activity may be restricted for three or four weeks while tissues firm and heal. Most plastic surgeons‘ patients return to work within a couple of weeks.

Liposuction Permanently Removes Fat Areas Unresponsive to Diet and Exercise

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Liposuction is a very common, popular procedure, designed for the permanent removal of subcutaneous fatty tissue from areas that do not respond to diet and exercise. These areas include the hips, thighs (for the removal of “cellulite”), abdomen, knees, ankles, arms, face, and neck.

Liposuction Creates Proportion and Balance

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

The most commonly suctioned areas are the neck (underneath the chin), tummy, waist, love handles, hips, saddle bags, inner thighs, knees, and, infrequently, the ankles. During the procedure you are completely awake, allowing you to lie down and stand up. Everyone is aware that their body appears differently when they are standing vs. lying, and by having you stand your surgeon can more accurately sculpt your body’s proportions. Pre-operative valium will help minimize any anxiety and discomfort you may feel. A special tumescent solution will be injected. This will numb the area as well as put fluid around the fat cells so they are more easily removed.

Enhance the Appearance of your Calves

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Calf augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the calves, enlarge them, and to make them more proportional in size and shape to the rest of the lower extremity and body. In this procedure calf implants of a variety of shapes, sizes, and contours, are inserted over the existing calf muscles - Gastrocnemius and Soleus Muscles - to achieve fuller and shapelier calves.

How to Manage Pain After Buttock Augmentation

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Buttock augmentation stretches the tissues and can be painful, especially if the implants are placed under the muscle. Your plastic surgeon will prescribe an antibiotic and an anti-inflammatory medication. You will wear a compression garment for support, for a few days after surgery.

Remove Stubborn Areas of Fat

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that do not respond to traditional weight loss methods. During the surgery, a small incision is made and a pencil-sized cannula (tube) is passed to suction the fat. One or two stitches are used to close the incision. After surgery, you may find that you are more comfortable in a wide variety of clothes and more at ease with your body.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Removes Excess Skin From The Abdomen

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Abdominoplasty, known more commonly as a “tummy tuck,” is a major surgical procedure to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. But bear in mind, it does produce a permanent scar, which, depending on the extent of the original problem and the surgery required to correct it, can extend from hip to hip.

Liposuction Removes Stubborn Fat

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

During the past decade, liposuction, which is also known as “lipoplasty” or “suction lipectomy,” has benefited from several new refinements. Today, a number of new techniques, including ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), and the tumescent technique, are helping many plastic surgeons to provide selected patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to traditional weight-loss methods.

Liposuction Sculpts Your Body

Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to traditional weight-loss methods.

Male Breast Reduction Restores a Feeling of Masculinity

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Like starting to shave, the lowering of one’s voice, or developing an Adam’s Apple, a flat and strong looking chest is seen as a sign of masculinity. It is humiliating to have a chest that looks even the slightest bit feminine. Many women seek breast augmentation because they say, “I look like a boy and just want to feel feminine.” And though men never make the opposite statement – probably because the words are too hard to say – it is probably in the back of their minds. As shy as some flat-chested women are about men seeing their chest naked, they tend not to have the same level of shame or humiliation as do men with gynecomastia. It is very common that even men with the mildest forms of gynecomastia never want to take their shirt off, wear loose clothes over a tight undershirt, and spend time in front of a mirror pushing their chest back to make it look flatter.

The Most Common Aesthetic Procedure Performed Today

Friday, January 30th, 2009

Liposuction is currently the most common aesthetic procedure being performed today. It is designed to remove unwanted fat from many areas of the body, including the face, neck, arms, back, hips, thighs, buttocks and knees and legs.

The Solution to Saggy Thighs is a Thigh Lift

Friday, January 30th, 2009

The skin does not always fully conform to the body’s new shape following significant weight loss. The skin may lose elasticity and begin to sag. One of the areas of the body most affected by this problem is the thigh area.
Thanks to thigh lift surgery, a highly effective cosmetic surgical procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the thighs, a solution is available. A thigh lift can dramatically improve the thigh area, as well as enhance the overall appearance of the figure. After working hard to lose a significant amount of weight, developing a secondary problem such as excess, sagging skin can be very frustrating.

The Risks of Male Breast Reduction

Friday, January 30th, 2009

When male breast-reduction surgery is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon, complications are infrequent and usually minor. Nevertheless, as with any surgery, there are risks. These include infection, skin injury, excessive bleeding, adverse reaction to anesthesia, and excessive fluid loss or accumulation. The procedure may also result in noticeable scars, permanent pigment changes in the breast area, or slightly mismatched breasts or nipples. If asymmetry is significant, a second procedure may be performed to remove additional tissue.
The temporary effects of breast reduction include loss of breast sensation or numbness, which may last up to a year.

The Best Candidate For A Tummy Tuck

Friday, January 30th, 2009

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are men or women who are in relatively good shape but are bothered by a large fat deposit or loose abdominal skin that won’t respond to diet or exercise. The surgery is particularly helpful to women who, through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where they can return to normal. Loss of skin elasticity in older patients, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, can also be improved.
Patients who intend to lose a lot of weight should postpone the tummy tuck surgery. Also, women who plan future pregnancies should wait, as vertical muscles in the abdomen that are tightened during surgery can separate again during pregnancy.

Calf Implants Cosmetically Enhance One’s Body

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Many men and women are dissatisfied with the size and shape of their calves. Calf augmentation, or calf implants, is a surgical procedure that uses soft, solid silicone implants to increase the size and enhance the shape of the calves. Reasons for calf augmentation are varied and include cosmetic enhancement and reconstructive necessity. Men and women body builders often use calf augmentation to enhance the fullness, shape and bulk of the calf muscles when exercise falls short on further development. Others choose calf implants to improve proportions, definitions and curves of the lower legs for simple muscular enhancement or to correct the appearance of thin and/or bowed legs. Calf implants can also be used to correct asymmetry in calf muscles from trauma or genetic birth deformities such as in polio, spina bifida and clubfoot.

Liposuction is One of Today’s Most Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

One of the most popular procedures today, liposuction is designed to eliminate fatty deposits in various areas of the body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks or neck. This is not a weight loss procedure but rather a sculpting of areas that are refractory to dieting and exercise. During the tumescent liposuction procedure, fluid is injected into the tissue to improve the efficiency of fat removal and to decrease the blood loss. Then, a cannula connected to a vacuum pump is inserted through a small 1/4” incision in a normal skin fold, and the area is suctioned. Today, advanced techniques using ultrasonic and power assisted cannulas have enhanced results. This body contouring procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, and the patient can resume normal activities within a week’s time, but must refrain from exercising and sports for three weeks postoperatively.

An Abdominoplasty Removes Loose Skin and Fat

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

An abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” is a commonly performed surgery that tightens weak or stretched muscles and removes excess skin, creating a flat and toned abdomen. An abdominoplasty is an body contouring plastic surgery operation in which the loose skin and fat of the abdominal wall, particularly around the navel, is removed by elevation of the skin and fat, pulling it inferiorly and excising the excess. It is particularly effective in removing stretch marks from the lover abdomen, but it must be understood that not all stretch marks can be eliminated. The navel is reinserted into the skin after the tightening procedure.

Brachioplasty Removes Excessive or Hanging Skin from Your Upper Arms

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

Brachioplasty, or an arm lift, is designed to remove excessive and sagging skin in the upper arm that often results from weight loss and aging. An arm lift procedure can give your arms the shapely contours you may not have seen in a long time or never had! Imagine being able to wear any sleeveless shirt you want!

Liposuction is Ideal for Improving One’s Shape, Silhouette, Contour, or Figure

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Have you ever looked at your silhouette and imagined that you could just wish away those areas that just protrude out too far? Have you ever wished you could have those fatty bulges just melt away? There is no need to feel alone as most of us have similar problem areas that we wish would just go away. That is why liposuction is the most popular plastic surgical procedure performed in the United States. Liposuction is a procedure, which is ideal for improving one’s shape, silhouette, contour or figure. It is perfect for those stubborn, unsightly collections of fatty deposits.

Male Breast Reduction Can Save A Male From Emotional Devastation

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Gynecomastia can be emotionally devastating. A man or boy with gynecomastia struggles with anxiety over such simple acts as taking off his shirt at the beach. For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. Male breast reduction removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured.

The First Step in Receiving a Tummy Tuck

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

The first consultation allows you to meet with your plastic surgeon and staff to discuss your needs and concerns. You will learn about your surgery, the risks and complications, recovery time and look at before and after pictures. Your discussion with him or her covers all aspects of the surgery and you will discuss with him or her your expectations of the surgery. Your plastic surgeon will be able to examine your body and talk about the procedures necessary to meet your expectations.
During the consultation, you will be asked about the results you would like to achieve from abdominoplasty. This will help your surgeon to understand your expectations and determine whether they realistically can be achieved. He or she will individualize your treatment plan with you and discuss with you what type of abdominoplasty will give you your best results (ie. mini-abdominoplasty vs. full abdominoplasty vs. extended abdominoplasty).
You will have before pictures taken, which allows the physician to plan your surgery and also allows computer imaging to be done and viewed at a later date. After meeting with your surgeon you will have the opportunity to meet with the nurse and review pre-operative and post-operative care necessary for the surgery. You plastic surgeon’s assistant will discuss fees and schedule your surgery at a time convenient to both schedules.

A Thigh Lift is the Answer if You Want to Firm and Tighten Your Thighs

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

The thighs tend to be an area of the body that is often overlooked but one that can greatly benefit from plastic surgery. The thighs can be affected by both redundant skin and an over-accumulation of fatty deposits. There are many reasons why the thighs undergo these changes. The thighs are one area of the body that is particularly prone to fat build-up and deterioration in skin quality. During the aging process, the skin loses elasticity, retaining ligaments stretch and gravity takes its toll. Thigh skin is especially prone to these changes as it is naturally thinner than skin found elsewhere in the body. Weight gain also plays a roll in this process as the added skin tension further stretches and thins the skin. The problem can become quite noticeable with significant weight loss. Sun exposure and cigarette smoking can also be major contributors to the problem. Cosmetic surgery can offer a real opportunity to correct these issues and achieve a firmer, more youthful look. A thigh lift, liposuction or both, may be just the answer.

The Difference Between a Full and Mini-Tummy Tuck

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

During abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that extends from hip to hip along the lower pubic area. A skilled plastic surgeon makes this incision so that the resulting scar is hidden under a bathing suit or by undergarments. The plastic surgeon then lifts the loose skin off of the abdominal wall, and tightens and repairs the loosened “rectus” muscles – the muscles that normally give the abdomen its strength – achieving the effect that an old-fashioned girdle would.
During Mini-Abdominoplasty, the plastic surgeon makes an incision that generally spans only the width of the pubic area, and that is similar to a C-section incision. In both procedures, patients with excessive fat in the hips and flanks may have liposuction in these areas to contour them, but not in the areas of the abdomen that are being stretched because this could cause damage to the blood circulation in those areas, leading to scarring or even skin loss. The result of a tummy tuck is an abdomen that is tight and flat, a waist that is narrow and curvy and thighs and buttocks that are firmer.

Arm Lift Surgery is Becoming Increasingly Popular

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift or arm tuck, is a plastic surgery procedure designed to remove redundant, flabby, and sagging skin folds of the upper arms. Hanging arm skin folds are not only unsightly, but also interfere with one’s ability to fit in sleeved tops, as well as causing underarm skin rash and irritation.
Brachioplasty can now offer patients the freedom of a lifestyle that they couldn’t enjoy previously. In fact, the popularity of arm lift surgery has soared to a point that according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the number of Brachioplasty surgeries has tripled since 1997, with nearly 15,000 procedures being performed in 2005. Arm lift surgery is not exclusive to women. Actually, many men also undergo brachioplasty.

Brachioplasty Tightens The Skin on Your Arms

Friday, January 16th, 2009

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure to remove loose skin and excess fat deposits in the upper arm. With age, upper arm skin can become loose and flabby. Plastic surgeons will discuss brachioplasty with patients who want to tighten this skin and look as good as they feel. In some cases your plastic surgeon may suggest that liposuction be used alone or in conjunction with an arm lift to remove excess fat in the upper arms.

Male Breast Reduction Gets Rid of Embarrassment

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Gynecomastia can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation and takes between 1 and 2 hours. Male breast reduction is a plastic surgery procedure where the reduction of breast volume can many times be accomplished with ultrasound assisted liposuction. In some cases, a small incision may need to be made in order to remove tissue directly. In rare cases, skin may be removed from around the areola.
Initial recovery time for gynecomastia is from 7 to 10 days. The complete recovery time is from 4 to 6 weeks. This means no heavy exercise such as lifting weights, vigorous workouts at the gym, or any other strenuous activity. It may take at least 6 months to a year for the final results.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Gets Rid of Your Protruding Belly

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, removes loose hanging abdominal skin and tightens weakened abdominal wall muscles. Because even diligent diet and exercise cannot fix these problems, each year more than 80,000 American women and men undergo tummy tuck surgery. Women and men who have a protruding belly, loose hanging abdominal skin and weak abdominal muscles are candidates for a full tummy tuck.
Mini-abdominoplasty, also known as a mini-tummy tuck, is reserved for those who have only a limited amount of loose skin or stretch marks in the lower abdomen, or above the public bone. Also, Mini tummy tuck does not usually involve the tightening of abdominal muscles. Therefore, it is sometimes combined with liposuction for patients with excessive fat, but limited looseness of the abdomen.

Liposuction Sculpts Your Body

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. During the past decade, liposuction, which is also known as “lipoplasty” or “suction lipectomy,” has benefited from several new refinements. Today, a number of new techniques, including ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), the tumescent technique, and the super-wet technique, are helping many plastic surgeons to provide selected patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to traditional weight-loss methods.
If you’re considering liposuction, the information below will give you a basic understanding of the procedure - when it can help, how it is performed and how you might look and feel after surgery. It won’t answer all of your questions, since much depends on your individual circumstances. Please ask your plastic surgeon if there is anything about the procedure you don’t understand.

Enhance the Appearance of your Calves

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Calf augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the calves, enlarge them, and to make them more proportional in size and shape to the rest of the lower extremity and body. In this procedure calf implants of a variety of shapes, sizes, and contours, are inserted over the existing calf muscles - Gastrocnemius and Soleus Muscles - to achieve fuller and shapelier calves.
Most people want their calves to look natural, full, and curvaceous. In many men, the overwhelming emphasis is to augment the size and bulk of the calves in order to make them look as if you have worked out.

Remove Localized Fat Deposits with Liposuction

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Many plastic surgeons use an “ultrasonic” technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as “love handles” and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.
By injecting saline, anesthetic solution and epinephrine during liposuction (”tumescent” liposuction), bruising is minimized. Incisions for liposuction are small and easily hidden.

A Tummy Tuck may be the Answer to Your Problems

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

A tummy tuck is performed by first carefully marking the patient while they are standing. Careful pre-operative marking is essential to guiding the surgery to success. The procedure begins just above the pubis, by lifting the skin off the muscle from the pubic bone up to the bottom of the ribs. This releases the skin to allow the lower abdominal excess to be removed and the upper abdominal skin to be stretched downward to fill in the space from where the skin is removed. It also allows the surgeon to easily visualize the stretched out, thinned or separated muscles and to tighten them. Although the procedure does require an incision, many plastic surgeons’ experience and intimate understanding of the patient’s anatomy and body contours will allow the scar to be well hidden in a bikini bathing suit or even skimpy underwear. Like all procedures, Abdominoplasty does carry risks, including the risk of infection, bleeding and the risk from anesthetics. It is important to note that under the care of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, great care will be taken to avoid or minimize these risks.

Remove Redundant, Flabby, and Sagging Skin Folds of the Upper Arms

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Arm lift (also known as brachioplasty) is a procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat from the upper arm. The goal of the surgery is to obtain a more toned, defined arm.
Liposuction may be used in conjunction with brachioplasty to further enhance results. Incisions are usually made on the inside of the arm in an inconspicuous area. Depending on the extent of the surgery, some arm lift procedures can be accomplished by making a small incision in the armpit area. Most people can return to work one to two weeks following arm lift surgery with minimal restrictions.

Liposuction: The Procedure

Friday, January 9th, 2009

Many plastic surgeons use a “tumescent technique.” After the induction of general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, a large volume, up to several quarts, of very dilute local anesthetic is injected into the areas to be treated. There is a tiny dose of adrenaline in the fluid as well, which makes the blood vessels in the area clamp down. This prevents perhaps 95% of the blood loss that would otherwise occur during liposuction.
Thin hollow stainless steel tubes are placed through short (perhaps 1/4″) incisions in the area treated and are used to suction away the appropriate amount of fat. Sheets of lightweight foam are placed on the treated areas, and a compression garment, like a corset, is placed. Bruising is usually scant.

Male Breast Reduction Restores Confidence in Men

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Some men have deposits of excess breast tissue and fat in their breasts, giving them a female form. While sometimes related to medicines or a hormonal imbalance, these inciting causes are not often found to be a factor. Most cases are a matter of bad luck.

Correction of this problem known as gynecomastia is usually able to be accomplished with liposuction. In rare cases, there is so much extra skin that this must be reduced as well as the internal deposits.

This is an outpatient procedure performed at our own state of the art outpatient surgery center, requiring only 2-3 days of recovery time.

Are you a Thigh Lift Candidate?

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

You may be a candidate for thighplasty if you have experienced a loss of skin elasticity of the thigh, hip, or buttock areas. You may also desire this procedure if your skin in the thigh area is saggy, has an orange peel, flabby and/or dimpled appearance. The procedure may also be indicated if your thigh appearance improves dramatically when you lift the lax skin. If you are self-conscious about your lower body appearance you may also want to look into this procedure. The procedure is intended to produce tighter, more attractive thigh and buttock skin with improved contours. It is also intended to decrease irregularities in skin surface.
Has anyone ever had this surgery performed on them? Would you like to share you story?

Brachioplasty: The Procedure

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

The procedure is usually done under general anesthesia and takes about 3 hours. The location and length of the incision are dependent on the amount of skin to be removed. Through the incisions excess skin and fat are removed and deep tissues are tightened.

Get Rid of Stubborn Fat with Liposuction

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

While plastic surgeons encourage approaching liposuction from a state of good health, diet and exercise, they can effectively remove stubborn areas of fat that won’t respond in any other way. Through a very tiny incision, which can be concealed, a plastic surgeon will place a tube deep beneath the skin. With a combination of ultrasound energy and suction, a plastic surgeon can remove and sculpt fatty layers. The liposuction they perform is usually circumferential which will tailor the area front to back and avoid any irregularities. Afterwards a compression garment or girdle will help control swelling and provide comfort while the skin shrinks and the bruising resolves.

In some cases your plastic surgeon may suggest that liposuction be used alone or in conjunction with an arm lift to remove excess fat in the upper arms.

Get Rid of Sagging Abdominal Skin with a Tummy Tuck

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The skin over the abdomen area can become stretched out after childbirth or weight loss. This skin does not retract to its original tightness and can be loose and saggy. The abdominal muscles also have stretched out and have not regained their normal position, giving the appearance of a “pot belly” no matter how many sit-ups a person does. An abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” will correct both of these problems. The excess skin is removed and the muscles are tightened to firm up the abdomen and provide better contour.

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Reasons for calf augmentation are varfied and include cosmetic enhancement and reconstructive necessity.

Liposuction Eliminates Hard To Get Rid Of Fat

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Liposuction (lipoplasty) is particularly well-suited for women and men who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate. These localized fat deposits may sometimes be an inherited trait and typically do not respond to dieting or exercise. Liposuction is often the only way to eliminate them.

Procedures of the Body: Liposuction

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Liposuction can remove localized fat deposits from almost any area of the body. Board Certified Plastic Surgeons use an “ultrasonic” technique, during which sound waves liquefy fat cells before liposuction begins. This allows the elimination of more tissue, especially in difficult to treat areas such as “love handles” and the upper abdomen. Ultrasound breaks up fibrous tissue in the fat, and gives smoother results than with other types of liposuction.

Preparing For Your Tummy Tuck

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Your surgeon will give you specific instructions on how to prepare for your surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins, and medications.
If you smoke, plan to quit at least one to two weeks before your surgery and not to resume for at least two weeks after your surgery. Avoid overexposure to the sun before surgery, especially to your abdomen, and do not go on a stringent diet, as both can inhibit your ability to heal. If you develop a cold or infection of any kind, your surgery will probably be postponed.
Whether your surgery is done on an outpatient or inpatient basis, you should arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery, and to help you out for a day or two after you leave the hospital, if needed.

Anaheim Plastic Surgeon offers Liposuction

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Liposuction (or suction-assisted lipectomy) has become one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed today. Proven to be safe with minimal scarring and outstanding results, liposuction is the preferred method for removing fat from the, thighs, buttocks and midriff, as well as areas of the face, neck and arms. Liposuction is not an alternative to weight reduction, but can be very effective in removing fat from areas that do not respond to diet and exercise programs.

Suction-assisted lipectomy is performed by a doctor on an outpatient basis. A narrow tube (cannula) is inserted through a small incision. The doctor then manipulates the cannula, which is connected to a strong vacuum, breaking up fatty areas and suctioning out the fat.

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr T Lim is located in Anaheim and offers body contouring procedures for patients throughout Southern California including Hacienda Heights and Fullerton.

Dr. James Anthony offers Abdominoplasty

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Abdominoplasty procedures are appropriate for patients with extra skin on their abdomen or for women who have developed loose stomach muscles after pregnancy. Abdominoplasty can remove loose skin and tighten muscles which have been separated. This procedure results in a dramatically flattened abdomen with an incision that is hidden by underwear or a bathing suit. Abdominoplasty is often combined with Liposuction particularly of the waist, abdomen and back to result in the most dramatic improvement in these areas, especially the waistline. Abdominoplasty incisions vary in length and are customized for each patient. In every case, Dr. Anthony will recommend the smallest incision which will meet your goals of a tighter, flatter abdomen.

Recovery time will vary for each patient and Dr. Anthony will discuss this with you at your consultation. The results after Abdominoplasty are often quite dramatic and should last a lifetime. Read more about Tummy Tuck in San Francisco…
