I was looking for general information on neck lift surgery when I stumbled upon some information that caught my eye on an Oklahoma City plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “To hold the skin in its new position, strips of skin are cut away and the resultant opening is closed by drawing the edges together. The strips are removed in locations that will not be apparent after healing. Both sides of the face are treated to keep a symmetrical appearance.”

I recently heard of a type of liposuction known as smart lipo. I was very curious to find out the difference as I am going to be receiving liposuction in a few months. I did some searching online and found a Tulsa plastic surgeon’s website. It says, “Conventional liposuction is meant to remove greater amounts of fat.” also “Smart Lipo is ideal for the neck, jawline, arms, breasts, ‘bra fat,’ abdomen, “love handles”, “saddle bags”, inner and outer thighs and knees.”

The best candidate for a facelift is a man or woman whose face and neck have begun to sag, but whose skin still has some elasticity and whose bone structure is strong and well-defined. Most patients are in their forties to sixties, but facelifts can be done successfully on people in their seventies or eighties as well.

Patients who undergo breast reduction surgery frequently are seeking relief from physical symptoms caused by the excessive weight of large breasts. Rhinoplasty was first developed by sushruta, an important physician, who lived in ancient India circa 500 BC. He and his later students and disciples used Rhinoplasty to reconstruct noses that were amputed as punishment and for crimes. He developed the techniques of forehead flap Rhinoplasty which is practiced almost unchanged to this day. This knowledge of plastic surgery existed in India up to late 18 century. The first intranasal Rhinoplasty in the west was performed by john Orlando roe in 1887. In 1898 Jacques Joshep used it for cosmetic purposes to help those who felt that the shape or size of their nose caused them embarrassment and social discomfort.

Many features which are not desirable in a nose may be improved through cosmetic surgery. Noses may be made narrower, straighter, longer or shorter. Humps may be removed and the shape, size and angle and definition of the tip of the nose may be altered. Breathing problems caused by a deviated septum may be corrected. Rhinoplasty may be performed at any time after facial growth has been completed that is age 15-16 for women and age 16-17 for men. The ideal outcome in rhinoplasty is a natural appearing with balance and harmony, enhancing beauty of the eyes and lips.
Because of the special nature of the blood supply to the nose and surrounding area, it is possible for retrograde infections from the nasal area to spread to the brain. To reduce the risks follow the doctor’s advice both before and after the surgery.

Gynecomastia can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation and takes between 1 and 2 hours. Male breast reduction is a plastic surgery procedure where the reduction of breast volume can many times be accomplished with ultrasound assisted liposuction. In some cases, a small incision may need to be made in order to remove tissue directly. In rare cases, skin may be removed from around the areola.
Initial recovery time for gynecomastia is from 7 to 10 days. The complete recovery time is from 4 to 6 weeks. This means no heavy exercise such as lifting weights, vigorous workouts at the gym, or any other strenuous activity. It may take at least 6 months to a year for the final results.

Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, removes loose hanging abdominal skin and tightens weakened abdominal wall muscles. Because even diligent diet and exercise cannot fix these problems, each year more than 80,000 American women and men undergo tummy tuck surgery. Women and men who have a protruding belly, loose hanging abdominal skin and weak abdominal muscles are candidates for a full tummy tuck.
Mini-abdominoplasty, also known as a mini-tummy tuck, is reserved for those who have only a limited amount of loose skin or stretch marks in the lower abdomen, or above the public bone. Also, Mini tummy tuck does not usually involve the tightening of abdominal muscles. Therefore, it is sometimes combined with liposuction for patients with excessive fat, but limited looseness of the abdomen.

Liposuction is a procedure that can help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. During the past decade, liposuction, which is also known as “lipoplasty” or “suction lipectomy,” has benefited from several new refinements. Today, a number of new techniques, including ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), the tumescent technique, and the super-wet technique, are helping many plastic surgeons to provide selected patients with more precise results and quicker recovery times. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, liposuction can remove stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to traditional weight-loss methods.
If you’re considering liposuction, the information below will give you a basic understanding of the procedure - when it can help, how it is performed and how you might look and feel after surgery. It won’t answer all of your questions, since much depends on your individual circumstances. Please ask your plastic surgeon if there is anything about the procedure you don’t understand.

Over the years, factors such as pregnancy, nursing, and the force of gravity take their toll on a woman’s breasts. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their shape and firmness and begin to sag. Breastlift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts - at least, for a time. (No surgery can permanently delay the effects of gravity.) Mastopexy can also reduce the size of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple.
Mastopexy surgery can save a woman from embarassment and pain. It’s the perfect surgery for a woman suffering from sagging breasts. Has anyone had this surgery performed on them before?

A neck lift is usually part of a facelift but may be performed alone. The repair of the playsma muscles helps redefine the neck. Neck-lift procedures reposition and tighten skin that, through aging, has begun to sag.
Neck-lift procedures cannot eliminate all signs of aging. Although this procedure provides a more youthful appearance, the results usually decrease with time. Both genetic and environmental influences cause the face to show further signs of aging.
